HEANEYS' POEM
Stones flew over the sea between Ireland and Scotland
The giants have been fighting so long
they couldn't remember the reason they fought
At last they decided to build a huge road
so they could meet for the final battle
They brought all stones from Ireland and Scotland to their costs
They began to build the biggest road ever made
Then Irish giant realised the other was bigger,
more powerful and fearsome.
So he asked his wife for advice.
She dressed her husband like a baby.
When the Scottish arrived and saw the little boy
he thought the father would be much bigger
and run scared to death.
